Wood Norton - Past and present

SignOn this part of the site we will try to build a picture of life in early Wood Norton or Nortuna as it was then called.

In those days, the church and its institutions featured greatly, in the every day life of everyone in the village.

Mostly, this information has been assembled by others over the years and is to be found in old books and manuscripts.

Information can also be gleaned from details of transactions involving transfer of lands and appointments. And various charters, either royal or religious can often give an insight into the past.

It is hoped to gradually build on the information stored here, so as to provide useful and interesting reading for anybody with a desire to explore the past.
